Jerry Harris, Sculpture
“The plants, animals, and the spirit of the desert are what I love and sculpt the best. I try to capture a feeling of balance and harmony through my design as I create a timeless desert out of forged steel.” ~Jerry Harris
Fourth-generation Arizonan Jerry Harris honestly comes by his abilities with metal. The forged-steel sculptor extends a legacy started by his blacksmith great-grandfather and grandfather.
“Countless hours in the saddle following cattle and game trails honed my senses to the patterns and balance necessary for these plants and animals to thrive in the intense desert conditions,” says Jerry. “I realize now that this period in my life was very important, allowing me time to observe, explore and learn the smallest details, so that I could create these forms that would tell others about my way of viewing the desert.”
Jerry attended the University of Arizona, where he studied anthropology and animal science, but ultimately followed his natural gift for shaping and forging steel.
