Esther Rogoway, Paintings

“Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall unveil.” ~Esther Rogoway

Esther Rogoway has lived and studied in a variety of geographic environments that many artists would find exciting, inspirational and in some instances even mystical. These locales have become a part of her spirit, but it is from her inner soul that Esther creates her works of art.

Esther’s bold use of color is pure and there is an elegant balance between opposites, often harkening back to the American Southwest.

Esther is the daughter of noted artist Alfred Rogoway, so she grew up around artists, writers, and poets. At an early age, she was being exposed to creative thought devoid of constraints. Esther worked for many years in the field of commercial art, then married and raised her family.

Now that Esther’s children are grown, she is able to devote herself to fine art, at long last having the time to fully express her inner feelings each time she sits down to work on a canvas.

In her paintings, Esther draws us deep into our own subconscious world of feeling. Her images present us with a swirl of color and form, offering the viewer a dream-like abstraction of reality where everything is somewhat familiar, yet ebbs and flows with a rhythm of its own. Esther’s figures—primarily those of horses and people—are easily recognizable, but the nature of each composition speaks more of an inner world of feeling and imagination rather than to the outer world of reality.

Esther spent formative years in San Francisco, Big Sur, Santa Fe, Taos, Mexico, Cannes, and Mijas, Spain, all being communities where artistry was an integral part of life itself. Esther has studied at the Tumbridge Wells School of Art in England and at the Art Institute of Barcelona, Spain.
